This book is a direct continuation of My Soul to Keep and that one should definitely be read first! There, now that we have that out of the way. . . If you are still reading this review then i’m gonna assume that you also have fallen in love with the magic that is Rhys and Kai. First, a question! Is everybody still heartbroken and emotional and in need of a major glass of wine and dark chocolate or is it just me? I couldn’t stop reading book one and long after I finished it I couldn’t stop thinking about these characters and book 2 is just as powerful.

From the opening pages, a flashback to when Kai was young and her father was still around. I love how Kennedy gives us that moment because we get the bare bones of why he isn’t in her life anymore but we never seen them interact. So it makes him more real as a character, we feel how much he meant to her and why his betrayal hurt so much. There is a shadow hanging over this moment and we already know how it works out, but still seeing it first hand is tough. We then pick up with everything going on in the present day, Kai is out on tour and living her dream . . . Well mostly! Living like 2 halves of a broken soul Rhys and Kai’s seperation physically hurts (yes, I got lost in the story but I dare you to read it and not be affected personally by it!)

Gradually the problems they face just keep on coming wave upon wave and just when you think everything is passed more secrets come to life! This book has a bit of a different feel to it than book one — which let’s face it is probably a good thing. Having 2 books that are as emotionally shaking would be too intense haha don’t get me wrong there are a lot of highly emotional parts of the story and it does get very intense, but it seems like there is resolution quicker to each of them. I really enjoyed this story it kept me intrigued and flipping pages to find out what was going to happen. While there is not a cliffhanger to the ending I do hope there will be a book 3 because I want to see more of these characters and how they interact during less stressful times haha.

She doesn’t wear my ring.

We never stood before a preacher.

The only vows exchanged were between our bodies; between our souls.

But she was mine and I was hers until I ruined it. I have to believe that every day, every step, every breath brings me closer to making things right.

To making her mine again.

I’ve seen promises broken.

I know love makes no guarantees.

But things were different for Rhys and me, until he lied, and I walked away. Only there’s a chain between our hearts that I can’t break. Even if I forgive him, a shadow from my past hangs over us; over this love that reaches all the way down to my soul.

His name rushes from my mouth on a breath, and I’m off the bed, hurling myself at him top speed. Somehow my legs wrap around his waist and my arms tangle behind his neck. I couldn’t hold back and play this cool if I wanted to. Every part of me that’s been fighting to stay focused, to keep working, to be on, collapses against him. Surrenders to the feel of him in my arms and the smell of him. My fingers lace through his hair. I scatter kisses across his face, the sharp angles and taut skin warm beneath my lips.

“So I take it you’re happy to see me?” He chuckles, pressing his forehead to mine, hands squeezing my thighs.

“Happy?” I release something that’s half a sob, half a laugh, pulling back a few centimeters to let him breathe. “What gave you that idea?”

We stop grinning at the same time, laughter dissolving, our bodies exchanging sensual information. My breasts flattened to his chest. His erection growing and hardening against my core. Our breaths mingling and hearts tattooing beats through our clothes and into the other’s skin.

I move first, leaning in to capture his bottom lip between mine, sucking and pulling between my teeth. Licking into his mouth like there’s honey hidden inside. He groans into the kiss, walking backward until we reach the bed and dropping me so I bounce a little, his eyes roving over me head to toe.

“Pep, what the hell are you wearing?” Humor and desire tussle in his eyes.

I look down, laughing when I see the young Jackson brothers emblazoned across my chest, my legs ending in the footed bottoms.

“If I’d known you were coming, I could have made sexier arrangements.”

“Arrangements?” He quirks a dark brow, placing a knee on either side of my legs, hovering over me like a promise. “Lingerie would have been nice. Other rock stars have girlfriends who wear lingerie.”

“Oh, are you referring to yourself as a rock star now?” I grin up at him, feeling whole for the first time since he kissed me goodbye a week ago. “That’s not egomaniacal at all. Is there a club? You guys have rock star meetings? Does one of you take rock star minutes?”

“You are sitting in here listening to my music in the dark.” He leans forward to tug at the zipper beneath my chin. “Maybe you’re actually one of my crazed fans. Or a groupie. I might even find a Mrs. Rhyson Gray t-shirt around here somewhere. My girlfriend doesn’t like those.”

“No, she doesn’t.” I shake my head, eyes never straying from his.

A small frown jerks his brows together. He tugs again at the zipper, but it doesn’t budge.

“Pep, it’s stuck,” he says.

“Sometimes it does that,” I answer easily, enjoying the frustration spreading over his expression as he keeps pulling and it keeps staying.

He places my hand over his cock, hard and poking through his jeans.

“Well, it’s not exactly a good time for it to do that.”

I laugh, grasping my zipper and tugging. Wow, it really is stuck. These are vintage PJs, older than I am and threadbare in places. I’m surprised the zipper hasn’t rusted before now. I sit up, bringing our bodies closer as I jiggle the little hook a few times. Nothing.

“Just how attached are you to this Jackson Five onesie?” His glance burns hot across my subtle curves visible through the thin flannel, telegraphing his intentions.

“Well this is Michael’s original nose.” I release a fake exasperated sigh. “But I do have my sewing kit.”

“All I needed to hear.”

Sorry, boys.

He grabs the two ends of the collar separated by the zip line and pulls until there’s a ripping sound, the panels falling back to reveal my naked breasts and my panties. A wicked grin spreads across lips.

“You naughty girl.” He runs a finger over the writing on the front of my calendar panties, carrying a current that simultaneously hitches my breath and gets me wet. “Wearing Monday panties on a Thursday. My little rebel.”

Review: Rising Storm- Midseason #1: After The Storm By: Lexi Blake

Review: Rising Storm Midseason #1- After The Storm By: Lexi Blake

Amazon Link:

Picking up where the final episode of season one left off we are sucked right back into Storm Texas, the morning after the huge Founder’s Day celebration where some of Storm’s closely held secrets were brought out into the daylight. If you are a fan of this series like me you knew that these revelations were going to change EVERYTHING! Waking up the next morning Ginny has a new perspective on how her actions might have wider spreading effects, Luis and Marisol try to offer her some moral support but its not going to be that easy with the rest of the residents of Storm. . . Especially Logan!

The Salts are not faring well the morning after and while Lacey tries to make peace with and comfort her mother Celeste but it almost seems to little too late and the grouchy attitude that Lacey has given her mother since Jacob passed away seems to have taken its toll on their relationship. The showdown between Celeste and Ginny was drama at its finest — definitely TV worthy!

Dakota is facing the town in typical style after she destroys the town with her tirade– acting like she is the hottest thing on two legs and totally innocent of all wrong doing. I don’t think she is quite prepared for the backlash she has caused. Marcus is not extremely supportive of her right now either as he is staying with Brittainy and trying to help her deal with all the betrayals, even though he is completely innocent he still feels responsible because Dakota is his sister.

The force of nature that is Marylee has swept in with her master plan for Sebastian’s political career — discussing her plan and what Payton needs to do. I know Marylee is typically rude and manipulative (and she still is in this episode!) But she describes the aftermath in such hilarious terms that I really gained a new respect for her in this episode haha.

The end of this episode really gives us some nice moments that prove that healing is possible and that Ginny is transforming into a much stronger woman than we might have originally thought she was. Its shaping up to be another amazing season and with these 2 midseason episodes getting us back into Storm, Texas where secrets smolder and smoke like good Texas BBQ!

Review: Forever Pucked (Pucked #4) By: Helena Hunting

Its the moment that fans of this series have been eagerly anticipating from the moment Alex sent Violet a stuffed beaver! The wedding that we all swore would never actually happen is near. That is if the moms stop messaging Violet twenty bazillion times a day!

Haha this series is my favorite sports romance series and with this latest installment Helena gives us the best book in the series to date! There are the typical laugh out loud moments that we have come to expect with this series but there are also a lot of heartstopping moments where I was not sure how this story was going to turn out. There are also a lot of jaw dropping moments to where you are like whaaa?! From bedazzling, to costumes, to finally updating Daisy’s look! We get it all.

Violet and Alex are such a awesome couple! Sure they had an unorthodox meeting, and then a rough start to their relationship but they have really hit their stride and make being in love look easy. We have seen their ups and downs and know that it all hasn’t been sunshine and maple candies for them but in true Pucked fashion they persevere and end up stronger than ever!

But this story isn’t all about them! All of our favorite characters are along for the zany ride to the alter! I love how we always get more of the characters from previous books and its such an family group to where people are popping in and out and even though they might not

Be the stars of the story we see what is going on in their lives too. It makes it easy to keep up with what is going on in their lives. And let me tell you there is a lot going on for Miller and Sunny, Randy and Lilly and Charlene and Darren to keep up with!

I think the character that surprised me the most in this story was Lance (I know I am as shocked as you!) But he has really grown as a character over the course of the series and he grew more complex in this one because we get some more info on his hidden talents and parts of his personality that you wouldn’t expect. Hopefully we get to read his story soon!

The epilogue gave me all the feels! I adore these characters so much and seeing them at the end of this book with the sneak peek into the future made me a little teary eyed! I can’t wait to see where the series goes from here because all of the possibilities kind of boggle my mind haha.

Check out this fantastic excerpt from AFTER THE STORM!

“I didn’t know I was pregnant until I woke up from the accident.” Ginny’s voice was an impassioned whisper. “I found out two things that changed my life in that moment. I found out that my best friend was gone and that I was pregnant. And I prayed so hard that I hadn’t lost all of Jacob forever.”

Forever. That’s what she was looking at. She was looking at an entire lifetime of being a mother without a son. She loved her daughters dearly, but she would mourn Jacob forever. And this selfish girl was equating her pain as though they were the same. As though one night of spreading her legs gave her the right to mourn him.

“I think you woke up and realized you had two options. Take care of that baby alone or worm your way into Jacob’s family and his money.”

“I never cared about the money.”

Celeste wasn’t going to listen to that tripe. “Of course you did. Not enough to keep your legs closed. You say you loved Jacob but how long did you wait before you hopped into bed with that Murphy boy? Did you even break it off with my brother-in-law? How many men do you need on your string?”

“I’ve never slept with Logan, but I will admit that I’m in love with him. I love him in a way I never loved Jacob. Jacob was my best friend, but I know now that he wasn’t my soul mate. I pray with everything I am that this is his child, that we receive a miracle because I don’t want him to be lost forever, but I won’t hide what I feel for Logan and I won’t pretend it’s nasty. Not even to placate you, Celeste. I want to make things right between us and that means apologizing to you. Celeste, I’m so sorry I hurt you. I never meant to. I should have been braver. I should have been stronger, but I woke up and the world had crashed around me and I wanted the love you could give me. That all of you could give me. I’m sorry that it brought you so much pain.”

Something about the way she was standing there enraged Celeste. How could she stand there looking so innocent? How could she say exactly the right things to garner empathy? Celeste didn’t want to empathize. She wanted to fight and tear up things and destroy the world around her because it seemed so damn intent on destroying her. She wanted to burn it all down.

She didn’t feel her hand snap back, didn’t quite understand what she was doing. The world seemed tinged in red at the corners as though rage now filtered her vision. And it slowed everything down. In horror she realized she was going to strike Ginny Moreno. Her hand was going to bring justice her words never could.

And then it slapped against flesh. A strong hand circled her wrist and Travis stared down at her like he had no idea who she was.

Spring Break is finally here Sharks! And in typical PSU fashion its time for some shenanigans haha including a visit to Coyote Ugly and plenty of day drinking! But its not all fun and games in this episode, Skyler and Adam share a heart to heart, Jess comes to a few realizations while on vacation  one about Jarrett and one about Lei and Bo and I was so proud of her! Haha it may seem small but I really thought it was a moment of growth for her to just kind of let things be for them.

The boys are also in the party mood (when are they not?

I think the main theme of this episode is discovery – not like, oh hey I found a new delish drink but that digging deep and finding out things about yourself you didn’t know were possible and growing as a person. Now, these discoveries that all the characters are going through may have good aftereffects or they may have bad aftereffects. . . But one thing I know for sure is that we will be seeing the ripples of these discoveries for the next few episodes leading up to the season finale ! And it is shaping up to be another jaw-dropping finale I just know it.

Series: Romance Elements #2

Author: Brittainy C. Cherry

Genre: Romance

 Release Date: March 25, 2016

There once was a boy, and I loved him.

Logan Francis Silverstone and I were complete opposites. I danced, and he stood still. He was quiet, while I ran my mouth. He struggled to find a smile, and I refused to frown.

The night I saw the darkness that truly lived inside of him, I couldn’t look away.

We were broken together, yet somehow whole. We were wrong together, but always right. We were the stars that burned across the night sky, searching for a wish, praying for better tomorrows.

Until the day I lost him. He threw us away with one hasty decision–a decision that changed us forever.

There once was a boy, and I loved him.

And for a few breaths, a few whispers, a few moments, I think he loved me, too.
