Jamie is my new binge read author in less than a week I have read every book she has out and I have enjoyed every minute. After I finished Trucker I immediately wanted more Travis and Angel and then I looked on Goodreads and lo and behold there was a upcoming novella! (Gotta love how that happens right?) So I put my preorder in and eagerly anticipated release day. . .

This is a extended epilogue which we get more of how our favorite couple is spending their first Christmas together. You do have to note this novella is NOT A STANDALONE! haha so read Trucker first, (its one of my top reads of the year so you won’t regret starting there first)

Angel is still a girl after my own heart haha the chapter opens with her being lost in a “oooo shiny! Moment” and I am so guilty of those, (not just with jewelry though!) And I loved that wide eyed awe and the intensity of that moment right after one of the biggest moments of a woman’s life translated extremely well thanks to Jamie’s writing style. Like in her other books the dual POV’s is a excellent way to tell this story.

One of the most warm fuzzy inspiring moments goes to the chapter where they are at Travis’s mom’s house and where he realizes that Angel needed a mother figure and that he was able to provide that for her was absolutely adorable and proves how in sync he is with what she needs and that’s what I love about his character. He’s not clueless haha.

Beverly is still a firecracker and am I the only one who wants a Beverly and Ernie back in the day novella? Because I so want to know more about them! Its the ULTIMATE second chance romance haha.

All in all I loved this day in the life story and getting to experience another visit to Tolson which is quickly becoming my favorite small town to read about haha! I highly encourage everyone to get hooked on these books becuase they are some of my absolute favorites.

I had seen this book on Social Media quite a bit and seen my friends were reading it and I hate to say but I dismissed it at first I thought it was gonna be a gimmick or a wierd kind of lot lizard story (with romance novels these days you can never tell haha) but finally a friend of mine said “just try it!” Okay, okay you talked me into it! Haha

I am exceedingly glad I did, I binge read this entire book in like 4 hours, it took everything I could magically conjure up to set my Kindle down to let the dogs out and start a load of laundry. The storyline is completely unique and definitely not what I expected when I started but Angel and Travis’s story brings you in from the very beginning, and you experience every heartfelt, intense, hilarious moment with these great characters, I liked that Travis wasn’t this arrogant alpha male who could be a little controlling unlike so many of the heroes in indie romance he was just the boy next door and that made him stand out. Those heroes to me are better than the billionaire, club owner or crime lord. I don’t require anything fancy from my heroes haha.

Angel was this adorable character she is vivacious and kind of nieve but in a personable way and they make plenty of jokes that she is too trusting but it makes her endearing! The scene with her momma was completely heartbreaking and I just wanted to bring her ice cream and give her a hug haha her interactions with the people in town definitely made her stand out to me. A lot of people will discount hanging out with the elderly but they have so much to teach us and it is a passion that is near and dear to my heart so props to Jamie for putting that story point in there.

I had never read a book by Jamie before this one but I have to say she is now one of my automatic one click authors haha I love her fast paced writing style and the fact that she goes against the tide of popular romance heroes and heroines right now! A definite 5 star read for me.

I first found Shari’s books when I had seen a ad on social media about A Heart Of Time and I fell in love with her writing style and character development so I immediately wanted more! Of course haha one thing you always want when you discover an amazing new author is you want all the words! But good things come to those who wait!

With this story we see AJ’s story, we first met him in Heart of Time as Hunter ‘s brother and I knew there was gonna be more to him than just a background character. He had his own story to tell, and right from the beginning Shari immerses us in all the feels! You think you are gonna get eased into the story? Have you read Heart of Time? Its INTENSE from the first chapter and it just increases from there. AJ has not had it easy, and I had no idea his back story was gonna be that heartbreaking, from losing his daughter with his high school sweetheart after he was not involved with the adoption decision, to Cammy moving away, to his first failed marriage to his current situation with Tori you just want to question how many bad things can happen to one good guy in his life?

You know at some point Cammy is gonna have to return with some answers and ohhhh man when she does! It changes literally everything, and turns this story on its ear. Now I absolutely loved Heart Of Time but I have to say this one left me more emotionally wrung out but completely satisfied with how this story turns out. Its back and forth with contrasting how his past directly impacts current events and that constant wanting to know where his daughter is and what she is like  that it blends all of these emotions together and when you finally get to the healing part haha you are more than ready to see AJ find his HEA.

Release Date: November 21, 2016

I’ve made mistakes. Some of those mistakes have ruined lives, including my own.

Because of this, my past is something I have kept to myself, so when I found a woman who also wanted her past to remain hidden, it felt like the universe was pushing us together.

It turns out the universe had nothing to do with that.

If a person’s past doesn’t exist, the present may not unravel the way it should.

I found out the hard way, when I learned that my wife is not who I thought she was…living with a past I should know about. Her continuous self-destructive behaviors let me know she clearly has a plan—possibly one I never should have been a part of. I keep trying to save her, but she’s making it hard.

Now, both of our pasts have simultaneously rolled into the spotlight—colliding head-on, and causing the present to come crashing down on top of us.

I learned that since our pasts are part of who we are, they will always be the foundation of our present and our future.

The question I have is, will either of us walk away in one piece?

Review: The Life I Always Wanted By: Louisa Nixon

The moment I saw this cover I knew I had to have this book! Louisa was a new author to me but I saw a social media post about it so I was like “i’m game!” And while you think the story is going to be a breeze, the situations challenge you as a reader In many ways, domestic violence is a trigger for many people and for good reason and while some authors shy away from dealing with it, Louisa meets it head on and unflinchingly gives the reader a glimpse into Aria (Ria)’s life.

The story alternates between present time where Ria and Samuel have been married for 5 years, but we also see the genesis of their relationship, all too often women ignore the red flags that pop up in a relationship and seeing their relationship as it progresses you see how the abuse begins to escalate as well. Sam starts out in the first meeting to be almost overly charming and I think seeing who he becomes in the first chapter colors what we think of him in the past.

During a swanky work party celebrating Sam’s promotion Ria meets Logan, the owner of this hot new restaurant and Sam shows his colors further humiliating and threatening Ria, Logan notices her demeanor and tries to give her a way out. Thankfully she takes it and begins the task of rebuilding herself after years of living in continual fear.

The first part of the story is graphic and difficult to read but if you push through that part what you will find is a beautiful journey about a woman who is strong and getting stronger by the day, recovery from those situations is never easy but Louisa shows us that it is possible and there is hope and resources out there to help.

When I first heard the title I was a little iffy on how this story was gonna go, then I read the blurb, and (it just goes to show the power of a good blurb!) And it wiped away the hesitations I had and replaced them with this feeling of empowerment! This gorgeous woman on the cover is the perfect embodiment of the character we meet within these pages. Maggie is this true life woman and even though she is heavier than society dictates is fashionable she turns that conception on its ear and owns her body and personality! She deserves to be celebrated and told she’s gorgeous becuase dude she definitely is!

There is a section early in the book that broke my heart becuase i know so many women feel that way and do this exact thing and that is not right! How did society get to this point is a question I ask myself often but read this passage and then ask yourself the hard questions

“I made fun of myself, so other people didn’t have to. I put myself down because the sting of my words was less brutal than the sting of theirs. It was easier to have people laugh with me than to have those same people laughing at me. In the end, though, it didn’t matter how much I tried to love myself, when someone made fun of me, I lost a little of that love.”

In this story Shannon makes us confront these realities that may be difficult to read about but within these pages she also gives us hope, and the love yourself mantra that I think is important for women to hear. I plan on adding a print copy to my favorite books giveaway becuase I believe in the message this book sends and I will definitely be ordering a copy for myself too.

You note that up until now I haven’t mentioned anything about the hero. . . Not becuase I think he’s not as important to this story becuase he is, but since a lot of reviews will focus on that part of the story I really wanted to focus my review on Maggie by herself, her story is what stood out to me most. She has been unsatisfied in previous relationships and decided to go for what she needs, now this lifestyle may not be for everyone. . . But this insiders look at how this relationship works is fascinating. I typically don’t read books with this subject matter but it wasn’t gratuitous in nature which I applaud Shannon for showing, she could have wrote the story another way but it would have been a massive disservice to the characters she created.
