Review: Fallen Heir (Royals #4) By: Erin Watt

Once upon a time I discovered a little series known as the Royals. . . These brothers who are larger than life and one epic love story.. . We always knew though that there was one heck of a backstory that us rabid fans were clamoring for. This is that story! It's a rare event that a book is everything you hope it would be and then some and with Fallen Heir Erin Watt went above and beyond our bookworm wildest dreams! (And we bookworms have huge expectations. .. I blame a healthy imagination set free to imagine all the what if situations haha but I digress)

There is a reason that this series is one of my no brainer must purchase in print! (I mean I have a copy of Paper Princess that has more sticky notes stuck everywhere in it where it is closely resembling a porcupine) Its spot on with the pulse of today's new adults. . . Quotable. . . And entrancing in all the best ways. Ready for Easton's story? Let's dig in!

For me Easton was always the enigma. . . The one we wondered how did he get to be the way he is and what was his thought process. He is a little bit more intense and guarded than some of the other Royals but the one we were dying to know about. We thought we had a pretty good handle on his persona. . . But we dig a lot deeper here! There is so much more than meets the eye.

Now as always in this series the banter is lightning quick! Off the charts witty and I know I will be filing the phrase Oral Kraken away for use at a later date. Hartley is quite the sparring partner wit wise for Easton and that really drives the plot. But there are secrets abound with Hartley's past and the question becomes can Easton unravel them all to discover the strong woman who is as hard to pin down as smoke. . . But not only that can he find a happy medium with himself. This book is probably my favorite of the series tied with Paper Princess. It has everything we have come to expect from the Royals and more.

Review: Daveigh (Kingsbriar Quintuplets #3) By: Jody Kaye

From the very first page this book sucked me in, the story of all the siblings coming into the world was adorable and gave a nice intro to the story. Then we fast forward and Daveigh is older and in a tough situation. It's one thing to have bad luck with men but when we first meet her grown up self Daveigh is above and beyond that. My heart really went out for her right then.

We begin to get a real sense of the larger family dynamic when the rest of the siblings begin popping up and that gives us this vibrant rich picture of the people surrounding Daveigh. Not just the family but her friends as well. During the course of the early chapters we also bring to learn more about Cris and his life before beginning work at Kingsbriar and his story is pretty intense but it definitely gives him a solid hero rating in my book.

This isn't quite your typical run of the mill romance story and that is what really drew me into it. Any woman coming from a large family will completely understand where Daveigh is coming from haha, and Cris is a hero that while *shocker* he has imperfections he is perfect for the heroine and that my friends is what love is all about! So it's a bold choice on Jody's part but I think it really paid off.

Story wise it doesn't get much better! There are some editing issues but as I've read the ARC they may be all edited out now. But it doesn't take away from the flow of the story for me, but I figured I would make note of it since I do know some people will DNF a book over that (strange I know! If I can follow along with the story despite some nitpicky editing glitches it will never effect my rating of the book.) all in all I know I will be going back and catching up on this series and seeing what the quints are all up to.

Cover Reveal! Forget You Not By: Harloe Rae

Title: Forget You Not
A Reclusive Novel
Author: Harloe Rae
Genre: New Adult Contemporary Romance
Cover Design: Talia’s Book Covers
Cover Photo: Lucas Filipe
Release Date: September 27, 2017

Destiny is bogus
and fate is fake.
Everything happens
for a reason?
I gave up on my
fairy tale years ago.
Don’t get me wrong,
I’m not settling for less.
All my energy gets
poured into a job I love rather than dead end relationships.
Men aren’t even a
blip on my radar these days.
Who needs them?
Except to scratch
the occasional itch, I’m not interested in anything they have to offer.
If so-called Cupid
ever comes knocking on my door, I’ll be waiting with my flying pig because
happily ever after doesn’t exist.
I’ve become a jaded
disbeliever and my main reason just sauntered into the bar.
Rowen Sworr is the
only arrow that pierced my heart, and dammit, he stuck.
His random
reappearance is a complicated twist from that meddling matchmaker I didn’t see
Forget You Not is
the second interconnected-standalone in the Reclusive Novel Series.
The memory of that one seemingly special afternoon crosses
my mind occasionally but it’s become almost second nature to immediately shove
those thoughts away. The ink on my wrist suddenly itches, like the needle
is piercing into me all over again. I suppose there will always be a reminder
of my foolish heart—at least until I cover it up permanently.
I’ve convinced myself over the years that Rowen wasn’t the
. But after meeting him, I became even more determined to find the right guy
for me. Looking back on it now, there are a lot of similarities
between his vanishing act and when my father abandoned me. Perhaps
that’s why I took Rowen’s disappearance so hard back then. More recently, I’ve
let the idea of him, and all that other fluffy love shit, lose potency. I’d
been determined to move on with my life and forget about the ridiculous pipe
dream I once held onto so tightly. The significance of what Rowen
represented faded further with each passing season.
I’d almost tricked myself into believing he’d been a figment
of my imagination, but seeing Rowen again—right in front of my effing face—I
know he’s freaking real. My erratic heartbeat and other uncontrollable physical
reactions are evidence enough. The exponential spike in my pulse is like a
high-voltage shock from the fences meant to keep horses corralled.
So yeah, there’s really no denying it. Even after all this
time, and the differences in his appearance, I recognize Rowen immediately.

Review: Walking The Divide (Gray Eyes #3) By: Martine Lewis

Review: Walking The Divide (Gray Eyes #3) By: Martine Lewis

So after the explosive book 2 we have learned more about those with the empath powers and learned a smidge more about those looking for them. So we begin Book 3 in this enticing series with Elyssa and Zander. She's a wealthy socialite (think the cast of Gossip Girl) tired of the pomp and circumstance that goes with that world and Zander is a streetwise guy who has survived the broken foster care system. (This Book became surprisingly socially conscious!) the scene also changed from Texas to the bustling metropolis of New York City. Which really is a character all on its own. Martine does a fantastic job really giving us the feel of the city.

Elyssa is not your typical entitled rich girl and I am so glad she is this strong character! She does kind of go with the crowd sometimes but for the most part she takes the path less taken by those born to privilege. The scenes where she is working in the youth center and interacting with those kids really made her a stand out character. Zander is also a very interesting character! Even though you can tell from the glimpses we see of his past he has had a extremely rough life after being left on the steps of a church when he was young he has this drive to succeed and his artistic talent brings so much beauty into the world to drive out the gloomy feel of his life.

As their relationship blossoms Zander discovers more and more about who and what he is and that leads to a major Reveal that leaves the reader reeling and wondering how they didn't notice before haha. This series has really grown in depth since book one and that leaves me eagerly anticipating each new book left in the series.

Review: Breaking The Mold (Gray Eyes Series #2) By: Martine Lewis

Review: Breaking The Mold (Gray Eyes Series #2) By: Martine Lewis

Amazon Link:

After we were introduced to a rather special girl with powers we learn that there is another with the same power. The empaths are recognized by their eye color and we learn that the mother of the hero in book one is involved with tracking down and observing these teenagers. This book focuses on Alex and Olivia and I gotta say while I loved the match up in book one this one is even better! Alex moves back to a small town that he had lived in ten years before and he has always remembered this girl he felt a special connection with despite the fact that they were in elementary school. Now as a senior in high school he's looking forward to seeing her again. (See, adorbs right?!)

Olivia is this girl who is struggling with trying to follow her parents expectations but to balance that with finding out who she is and what her goals are. (Ahh that struggle I know it well! Never an easy time of a young girl's life let me tell you!) but Martine really plays this up and you can really experience the conflict with this character.

There is some tension going on with Olivia's ex Carl and that begins to bleed over into her entire life with him continuously showing up harassing her at work and school. He is seriously creeptastic! We find out that he also had experiences with Alex back in elementary school. The incidents escalate and it all comes to one intense confrontation!

This story is even more fast paced and complex than the first book in the series that it begs you to keep reading and experiencing the thrill ride that is this story. When a series just keeps getting better and better it is a joy to discover.

How can she hook up the boy of her dreams with the girl of his?
The only thing worse than not being able to tell your best friend you’re head over heels in love with him? Having to smile and nod when he enlists your help to ensnare the girl of his dreams.
Braylen didn’t even want to go to Lennon Pryor’s epic graduation-night party, but when Fynn begs her to be his “wingwoman,” she can’t deny him. Talking up her BFF—how he’s magic behind a camera, with a killer sense of humor, and eyelashes that frame the most gorgeous blue eyes in the history of forever—is easy. Supporting his efforts to woo someone so completely wrong for him? Not so much.
Fynn knows that grad night is his last shot to find true love before leaving for college. And thanks to Bray, he gets his chance with the beautiful Katy Evans. But over the course of the coolest party of their high school careers, he starts to see that perhaps what he really wants has been in front of him all along. Bray’s been his best friend since kindergarten, though, and he’d rather have her in his life as a friend than not at all.

His eyes found mine before looking around the room. “It went by fast, didn’t it?”
I nodded, recalling the first day we’d walked into this room freshman year. Fynn had held the door open for me, more out of habit than an attempt to be a gentleman, and had announced to the seniors that I was their new editor-in-chief. Of course, I hadn’t earned the position yet, but I had by the end of the year—which quickly made him the star photographer.
Not that being my best friend made it happen—the boy had a knack for capturing the most stunning images imaginable—but we’d been friends since kindergarten; there was no way I wasn’t giving him all the prime stories to cover.
An easy grin shaped my lips as I thought all the way back to the first day I’d met him. Don Trainer—who would always be the school bully—had stolen my favorite red crayon and snapped it in half, laughing the way only evil maniacs could as I cried my eyes out. Fynn had shoved him so hard his butt hit the activity mat with a thud loud enough to stop my tears. He then took my broken pieces of crayon to the teacher and asked for tape. He returned it to me, a thick bandage of scotch tape around its middle. We’d been inseparable since.
“What are you smiling at?” he asked, nudging me with his elbow. The move shot a thrill of warmth through my chest.
I blinked a few times, mentally cursing the rapidly approaching graduation ceremony forcing my mind to overrun with memories. “Just thinking about how you’ve always been the Prince Charming sort.”
